In September 2024 we hosted our first Grandparents Day Dinner for Grandparents With Open Arms, a local nonprofit for grandparents raising their grandchildren. These “grandfamilies” were celebrated with a special barbecue meal with all the fixings. Children enjoyed craft activities, and each family was given books for three age ranges and a packet of resource brochures from community organizations.
We enjoy adding free books or meals to enhance community events hosted by other organizations. Our booth at Ogden Botanical Gardens’ Earth Day Birthday offers free books that help build children’s love for animals, plants and the health of our planet; we also provide a healthy fruit kabob snack.
